About The Book

The Sun Will Shine Again

‘The Sun Will Shine Again’ documents Lorrie Colee’s journey from childhood trauma through decades of healing, forgiveness, and service to others. Growing up under her stepfather Bruce’s abuse, Lorrie witnessed domestic violence that left permanent scars on her entire family. At nine, her mother died under circumstances ruled a suicide, though questions remained.

The book follows Lorrie and her siblings through separation, placement with their estranged biological father in Gulfport, Mississippi, and eventual rescue by extended family in Graceville, Florida. Her grandparents provided the faith foundation that became central to her recovery. The memoir details the difficult process of choosing forgiveness, not to condone wrongdoing but to free herself from consuming anger and bitterness.

Now a counselor and guardian ad litem, Lorrie guides women and children through their own healing journeys. The book offers practical steps for processing emotional wounds, emphasizing faith, professional counseling, and the liberating power of forgiveness. Her message remains consistent: no matter how dark the night, brighter days lie ahead.

Read how ‘The Sun Will Shine Again’ resonated with trauma survivors, domestic violence advocates, faith communities, and anyone working through forgiveness. These reflections come from readers who found hope, validation, and practical guidance in Lorrie’s honest account. This book gave language to experiences I couldn’t articulate. Growing up in a home with domestic violence creates wounds most people don’t understand. Lorrie describes the constant fear, the tension even during normal activities like dinner, and the confusion when adults you’re supposed to trust become sources of terror. Knowing someone else felt those things and still built a meaningful life gave me hope during therapy sessions when progress felt impossible.
